-Monsters are strong
-Slow item respawn rate
-No difficulty levels
-Game MAINLY FOCUSED AROUND SCORES NOT "LETS GET OUTTA HERE ALIVE" <-- HUGE NONE COOP FEELING

Conclusion: 2/10

OPENCOOP FTW!! It's a shame the devs are not currently working on the mod.

Although the mod is buggy (eg. kicks players to main menu often) it is a lot smoother than LMS. From what i heard, they ported over some of the netcode from Quake to make the game run smoother. They're done a brilliant job optimizing netcode.

Beleive it or not LMS is based on one of the early versions of OpenCoop before the new netcode was ported. If you look closely at the LMS credits, NiceMice is mentioned. Wink

OpenCoop 1.1 is slightly more stable that 2 Alpha but only runs on doom 1.3.

OpenCoop encourages players to stick together more. Teamwork is key as respawns are limited by how much health is in the healthpool. Health is added to the pool when a player picks up a medkit under the following circumstances:
-Your health is above 30 (or is it 20?) and there's a player still waiting to respawn.
-Your health is 100. (No medkit is wasted so pick em up)

When there's 50 health in the pool, a dead player (if any) will respawn with that health. If all players die, one player will get the remaining health in the pool (whether it be 1 or 50). If you all die and there's 0 health in the pool, you obviously loose the game and need to restart the level.

I like this mod more than LMS because it's more survival based than competition. It also pees me off with how hostile some of the LMS community are towards the OpenCoop mod. They give this mod a bad reputation.

I've got my OpenCoop sever running but the PC running it is not fast enough so it becomes slow motion on some parts. Sad I'm going to upgrade it's 1.7GHz Athlon and 1GB RAM as soon as i have the money but still, it'd be cool if we could host this on our shiny new EWZ ded server.

Phew long post.

lms should be played for the additional gametypes, eg kill fest, defense.

But oc is better for singleplayer modes.

The insta respawning is a personal matter, but i like oc's healthpool system more than lms's infinite respawning. It adds more challange and makes you conserve your ammo. And you fight for your life, knowing that you might not respawn again. challange ftw.
btw, isn't it 25 hp before it adds to the health pool?

(ps, i feel a biased review polo Very Happy)

in LMS you said there is no difficulty level, what does that mean because i clearly see that there is one. And so what if monsters are harder, it just means its harder to play without dying.

In opencoop you can change the difficulties "Easy Normal Hard Nightmare Uberhard Pureevil (Thanks Polo)
But I could not find this in LMS. So I ask how does the Difficulty change according to players ?

Easy
Normal
Hard
Nightmere
Uberhard - Difficulty scales with alive players
PureEvil - Same as above but hard and team damage is forced on

And you can't vote for it.

You're getting rusty, Felix (the cat).
